Photography may sound simple; from the outside it just looks like a person pointing a camera and shooting, but it’s a lot more complicated than that. Most professional photographers have a specialty whether it be photographing models or taking pictures of nature. That is why some photographers of photo studios do advertise their skills in glamour photography or fashion photography. Each of these types of photography requires the photographer to overcome special challenges. The following are a few types of photographers and the field that they specialise in:

1. Portrait photographers – When you go to have your family picture be taken, that’s portrait photography. Photographers who specialise in this field usually focus on taking pictures inside a studio. They have to know how to control lighting and backgrounds to bring out the best in their subjects.

2. Fashion photographers – When you see fashion show photos and models in fashion magazines, those are usually done by fashion photographers. Fashion photographers need to be able to focus on the clothes and accessories that a model is wearing. This is why most of them know how to select models that show them off to the best effect. Fashion photographers do also work in the entertainment industry to provide albums and posters for publicity purposes.

3. Wedding photographers – Those people you see running around at weddings may not look much but taking pictures at weddings can be difficult work. The photographic style must match the theme of the wedding and the photographer should know what highlights of the event to take pictures of.

4. Child photographers – It may sound easy, but handling children for photography purposes is difficult. The photographer needs to know how to put the child in a good mood and keep him still for the photo. Children’s photographs are usually used for advertising purposes, but personal photos can also be done.

These are just a few fields in photography. It’s up to you whether you want to end up as a fashion photographer or one of the others. It takes a bit of learning but you’ll soon get the hang of things.
